The trails were designed to feature smooth singletrack twisting through a tree farm in various stages of growth. Twisting, narrow turns, steep downhill stretches, and trail features such as rock gardens, jumps and berms.

Trails are open to bikers, hikers and equestrian use. Some trails run through private timber company land, so are subject to closure, so please comply with posted signage.

Disciples of Dirt holds a number of scheduled rides and events at Whypass and are always looking for help with trail maintenance.

The area is not signed, but the Area Map includes some suggested directions. The ridgeline Carpenter Bypass Rd and spur roads can be used for ascents, maximizing the downhill riding and avoiding trail conflicts.

The main parking is at the Pile TH, a large gravel pit.

Directions: I-5 Exit 174 at Cottage Grove, then (west) on E Cottage Grove. Left (south) onto N 9th St (SR99), then right (west) on West Main Street, which becomes Cottage Grove Lorane Rd. Continue for about 10mi to Lorane. Go left onto Territorial Hwy, which becomes Siuslaw River Rd. Continue for 1.5mi to Carpenter Bypass Rd and continue to the Pile or Yellow Gate TH. View Larger Map.
