Willamette NF: Detroit and Sweet Home Ranger Districts

Essentially no biking allowed in the Detroit and Sweet Home Ranger districts, due to extensive use of wilderness area, a popular trend on the west-side of the Cascade range (near densely populated areas).

Breitenbush and Marion Lake areas offer plenty of wilderness hiking opportunities, and Santiam Pass is a very popular XC Ski destination (4WD nearly always required in winter and bring chains, survival gear, extra food, gps, etc).

2020 Beachie Creek, Lionshead & Holiday Farm Fires: Most of the Detroit RD and a portion of the McKenzie River RD were damaged by the fires. See the NF Site for closures.

As always, it is best to call the local Ranger District for trail conditions and other restrictions prior to riding, as the NF website may not contain trip-specific details.
